As some of you may know, we are in the process of slowly renovating our home, around family and work commitments, room by room. Here is a before and after shot of my lounge!
We have replaced the floor, got rid of the old gas fire and 90's style ceramic fireplace and replaced it with a traditional cast iron wood burner a statement Victorian style wooden surround - a bargain which I sourced locally on gumtree for a more than reasonable £50 and up-cycled with a lick of black gloss paint - beautiful! We literally walked into the house pulling the wallpaper off as we went the day we moved in! Most areas have been stripped back and painted, but that fireplace deserved something a little more special, so I opted to wallpaper the chimney breast with a beautiful, bold and colourful contemporary floral pattern in the form of 'Rabarber' by Scandinavian print designers, Borestapeter. We built the chunky floating shelves bespoke to fit either side of the side of the fireplace. I love how they break up the bold colour scheme and provide a stage for showing off the things that make my heart sing!
And the rest is really furnishings and accessories! My favourite part, where it all comes together and I get to style it up and express myself! I love mixing patterns, textures and colours! Throw in some luscious green plants to bring some life and freshness in and I am in my happy place! Hope you like it! Lounge Before...
